Quadel’s HCV Homeownership course gives staff a complete overview of the program including regulatory history, eligibility and selection criteria, program design, as well as a guide for implementation according to HUD’s requirements and their implications on program management.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Homeownership Program was created by HUD to assist low-income, first-time homebuyers in purchasing homes. Through the Homeownership option, a PHA may provide voucher assistance for an eligible family that purchases a dwelling unit for residence by the family. The program is funded by HUD and administered by participating local Public Housing Authorities (PHAs). In addition to HUD’s regulations, the PHAs may also adopt additional requirements, including lender qualifications or terms of financing.

In partnership with the Hunstville Housing Authority, Quadel is providing our HCV Homeownership course which gives staff a complete overview including regulatory history, eligibility and selection criteria, program design, as well as a guide for implementation and best practices according to HUD’s requirements. HUD’s Homeownership program provides a unique opportunity for participating PHAs to assist eligible consumers with a monthly housing assistance payment (HAP) to help pay for homeownership expenses associated with a housing unit purchased in accordance with HUD’s regulations. Course participants will learn the fundamentals of becoming a first-time homebuyer including credit, budget, applying for a mortgage and negotiating a purchase contract. Determining eligibility, integration with FSS, partnerships models and working with populations with special needs are also covered.
