Quadel Manager Matt Gronaw leads Quadel’s remote recertification team to ensure PHAs are meeting their recertification deadlines and compliance requirements.
Much like the population it serves, the affordable housing industry is full of diverse housing providers.
In an effort to highlight our employees and their unique affordable housing journeys, Quadel features staff members in its series: Passionate People. This week’s feature is Matt Gronaw, Manger, remote contracts. Gronaw discusses his industry journey and what he loves most about working with his remote team members.
“I began my journey in the affordable housing industry 17 years ago. I had no previous experience or real knowledge of the industry, but was fortunate enough to get plugged in where many people in the industry have started out – at the ground level.
My career began at Metropolitan Baltimore Quadel (MBQ), where I served as a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Specialist. While there, I rose to the position of Team Leader where I supervised the leasing team, ensuring that families were matched with safe, affordable homes. It was a hands-on position that required both technical knowledge and a compassionate approach. I learned how to navigate complex regulations, support clients through life-changing transitions, and lead a team with purpose and precision.
My affordable housing journey went on to another small PHA, where I rounded out my skills and gained knowledge of the entire process to include inspections and regular occupancy functions.”
“In 2018, I rejoined Quadel, stepping into a new and dynamic phase of my professional life. Today, I serve as the Manager of Quadel’s remote team. It’s a role that blends strategic leadership with operational execution. My responsibilities include crafting proposals, meeting with clients to define project guidelines, and assembling and supervising teams to ensure all deliverables are met.”
“Managing a remote team has taught me the importance of communication, adaptability, and trust. It’s a role that challenges me to think big while staying grounded in the details that matter most. Every project is an opportunity to build something meaningful—not just for our clients, but for the communities they serve.”
“Perhaps the most exciting aspect of my work at Quadel is speaking to other housing professionals and gaining industry insights and challenges. I enjoy working with others and offering my own expertise in an effort to help them reach their agency goals and standards.”
“Reflecting on my journey, I’m proud of the work I’ve done and the teams I’ve led. Affordable housing is more than a policy issue. It’s a human issue. I’m honored to be a part of an industry that strives every day to make housing accessible, stable, and dignified for all.”
